Slash and Burn AgricultureSlash and burn is a farming technique in which someone cuts down all [clearcuts] of the vegetation on a plot of land in order to plant farm crops. The ecoculture is destroyed by intense replanting until the soil is depleted of all nutrients, until it no longer will sustain crops.

The slash and burn farmer then simply moves on to another area to do the same thing again. This results in creating desert conditions which then usually result in massive errosion of the area which leads to silting of the downstream rivers, damaging the wildlife in and around the rivers.

Slash and burn agriculture, also known as swidden agriculture, is a farming method where forests are cut down and burned to clear land for cultivation. The ash left behind provides nutrients for crops. This practice is common in tropical regions but can lead to deforestation and soil degradation if not managed sustainably.
