It depends on what your asking it to do... Dogs are usually more willing to do things, but that doesn't make cats any less smart. With the proper bribery you can get your cat to do anything your dog can do- or vise versa.
Resources- My own experiences with clicker training- My cats can do more impressive stuff than my dog, because my dog is pretty old. That just goes to show that all animals are different, and need different treatment.
Recommendations- I would DEFIANTLY recommend Clicker Training to complete any trick or thing you want your pet to, in a VERY small amount of time. (I trained my cat to do an obstacle course that changes every time in roughly 10 minutes using Clicker Training, and she is a 4 and a half month old kitten.)
It is possible that dogs are smarter than cats, because i have a predator showdown book, and it says for the big cats 6,7,and 8 for brains. The wolf is 9 for brains. Cats could be smarter, too because they can do tricks like dogs and they can find their way back home, unlike dogs. Iam personally a cat person, even though at home i have dogs, not cats.
