In many ways dogs are smarter, as they can be trained to do various things, whilst cats are a lot harder to train suggesting they are not as clever.

I still believe cats are smarter, scientists don't know everything, just because a dog is easier to train, that doesn't PROVE that dogs are smarter, dogs learn tricks to please us, many people believe dogs are smarter because when we compare them dogs are more cooperative and are willing to take the test, however cats see no point, that's smarter to do. The cats brain is more like a human brain and they have a thinking brain, but dogs don't, cats can even solve problems! while dogs can't, a cat is smart enough to know not to run after a toy after it's fell in a river.
