And why wouldn't pirates be interesting when they fought the Spanish, British, stole gold, jewels, sank ships, stole ships from other pirates and sailed the seven seas to their hearts content. It was a wild way of living and obviously they enjoyed what they were doing. By the way there are still pirates around the tropics and near Asian Islands to this day and many a yachtsman has found themselves being over taken by pirates. Most are killed, some are lucky and survive. Just 5 months ago two doctors and their wives were pirated and thankfully didn't lose their lives, but all their money, computer equipment, jewelry and their pride. One yacht my husband helped build had a gun platform on it and the owner meant business!
