A solenoid is a long cylindrical coil of wire consisting of a large number of turns bound together very tightly.
A solenoid is usually used to produce a magnetic field to pull the armature of a relay, causing electrical contacts in the relay to open and/or close switching current flow.
No a switch just opens and closes a circuit. A switch can be replaced by a dimmer switch. The dimmer switch will fit in the same enclosure that the switch is removed from.
You can if you have a neutral wire present. If the existing switch is what is called a "switch loop" then you can not change the existing switch to a switched outlet. You can identify a switch loop by looking at the wires coming into the switch bow. If there are only one set of wires usually a black and white and they go directly to the switch then you have a switch loop

An EXO switch stands for EXternally Operated disconnect switch.
a switch
There is a solinoid that actuates the lock mechanisim. Either you are not getting power to it due to faulty wiring or switch, or the solinoid is bad itself.
I belive there is an electric motor/solinoid that engages the 4WD. Switch may be fine.
The solinoid is located on the top of the starter. Generally the starter is located on the front of the car, or the left side of the engine, next to the transmission.
On the starter solinoid
There's a solinoid in the transmission.Suggest to check that first. Turn on interior lights. Start engine. If the lights go out when the engine stalls, you have a bad ignition switch.
Have the neutral safety switch checked. Pop the hood, hold a key across the screw posts on the solinoid. it should start......make sure ignition is on and truck in Neutral.
There are two, both inside the gearbox
it is a mercury 115 brown strip. battery has 12.6 volts solinoid starts motor if you jump accross it has no power to controller tilt trim thumb control or switch.
There are a number of reasons these don't work. TAke it to a garage. All the four wheel drive trucks that have the lever on the floor like the 94 have a solinoid that acctuates the front diff. There is an update for them that convert themt from an heat based solinoid to an actual electric solinoid. If you call the dealer and give vin he can tell you about the update.
There is a switch on the brake pedal that send a signal when you touch the brakes to put the car into gear. Make sure that is working. If it is there is a solinoid on the shifter that could be bad.
transmission pressure control solinoid
Physicall no difference. But inductor uses ac and solinoid uses dc.
