Interesting question. Value is a relative term and really has no place in spirituality. Spirituality is more about dropping the idea of value. See is one moment really more valuable than the next? What makes it such? I one belief system more valuable then the next? What makes it so? The answer to all these questions is EGO. We project value on the world. When the value itself does not exist.

There are a couple of lectures on this subject on YouTube by Swami Nithyananda.

  • That which benefits our souls, motivates us toward worship, and connects us consciously (or perhaps even unconsciously) with the supernatural.
  • Spiritual values are the way you believe in your own god and if you have any rules like praying before you eat,and if you have any boundaries such as marriage before sex.
  • Being a person who can empathize rather than sympathize.

  • Spiritual Values are how you represent what you believe in when it comes to religion/Spirituality, and sticking to what you believe in without being hypocritical.

What is the value of spiritual growth for becoming a better person?

When there is spiritual growth in a person, a person realizes that we are not the body and the mind, we are the Divine Soul. True spirituality makes that person respect one and all, be it man or animal, as a manifestation of God. A truly spiritual person becomes a Divine Soul, not a person who lives with an ego, with anger, hate, revenge and jealousy. A truly spiritual person transcends the agony of the ego, transcends the cravings and desires of this material world and lives as a Divine Soul. Therefore, there is great value in spiritual growth because it is spirituality that leads us to a life of eternal bliss and everlasting peace, a life that knows no misery or sorrow.
