∙ 14y agoIt is a display which gives quotes of where stocks are trading on the Stock Market. Originally called a Ticker Tape, this is a device which would print quotes (symbol and price) on a thin strip of paper. With the advent of computers, these devices have become obsolete.
A stock market ticker is a running report that gives information on the daily stock exchange trading activity. The name comes from ticker tape machines that printed this information out in a continuous strip. Today you can see the ticker displayed on channels like CNN.
