I'm not a farmer but I remember this from when I was young and my Dad grew Cotton. Strip planting is where you plan 2 or 3 rows and skip one or two rows. Then next year, you rotate the order. This allows the soil to have a year to rest and restore its nutriants without leaving the entire field unused.
