A sweet smell is usually coolant being burned, check your coolant level and oil ( look for milky appearance ) as it may be a head gasket leak.
A coolant leak on the outside of the motor may indicate a leak somewhere in the radiator or one of the hoses.
When an AC line is leaking I have heard some people describe the smell as sweet.
