They are man made lubricants. Not natural like oil that comes from the ground.
Mobil 1 has a synthetic engine oil, this oil will take more abuse, heat, friction then and
regular oil on the market. I have tested this theory myself. It has been tested by the company.
I have taken, Quaker state, Pennzoil,Castrol, Valvoline, all 10w/30 regular oil. Also the Mobil 1 syn. I heated equal
amounts of each in there own beaker to a temp of 280deg.
All the regular oils cooked down to a powder, except for Mobil 1, it did not cook down.
This oil is a waste in an old vehicle, but the best for a new one.
Oil usually refers to petroleum lubricant. It is refined product of crude oil pumped from underground oil fields around the world. Synthetic oil is lubricant manufactured as a substitute for petroleum lubricant, it was first developed by Germany during WWII to make up their shortages in oil. Semi synthetic oil is a mixture of petroleum lubricant and syntetic lubricant.
Synthetic oils are manufactured either from raw materials or by modifying a petroleum product. The main use of a synthetic oil is to act as a lubricant in conditions of extreme temperature. They can be used as a lubricant in both aircraft and automobiles.

It's alkyl-benzene.
Your Lubricant is too cold to flow & lubricate efficiently. Switch to a Synthetic Lube. Suggest AMSOIL Gear Lube or AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Transmission Lubricant. See your Owners Manual for correct viscosity.
Go with Mobil Synthetic Gear Lubricant (LS) 75w-90
no problem in using synthetic oils as lubricant for this model.. but i myself use virgin oil. for me it is better for older car models.. i dont think there is a problem doing so - synthetic oil is just a lubricant like standard oil. I believe it is undesirable to mix it with standard though so you would want to change and flush the old oil type before using synthetic. it is also questionable if the benefit would make the additional cost worthwhile - I would doubt it.
Assuming it is a 5.7L I found this article in Alldata's TSBs "5 speed manual transmission requires the use of a special synthetic lubricant . This special lubricant is required to reduce transmission internal operating temperatures. The synthetic lubricant does not require periodic changing. If it is necessary to drain and refill or add fluid to the transmission, DON'T substitute any other lubricant. Installation of other lubricants may result in internal transmission damage." I use Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 in my 2003 Honda Crv.
Yes! Only difference is that the lead, used as a lubricant in earlier engines, has been removed and replaced with a synthetic compound.
As long as there are no leaks and it never gets low of lubricant modern differentials should last the life of the vehicle. For even more insurance against failure have the lubricant changed at 100,000 miles and install synthetic lube.
