It happens all the time: humans get new ideas for how to do things and make specialized tools to make it easier to do those things.
The earliest human technologies were based on flaking stone, leather strips, plant fiber string, wood, bone, and antler.
Later technologies involved metals (e.g. copper, bronze, iron, steel).
Most of these were related to getting food and fighting off others that would take the food (or fighting to take other's food).
Transportation related technologies have changed from simple leather sandals to horse tack to carriages and coaches to trains and cars and airplanes to spacecraft.
I'm sure you can think of many more changes over time.
