I don't know... seriously.
But I think oil paint is more non-sticky and the texture is like oil unlike latex.
oil paint is usually more durable and can be washed to get stains off. oil paint takes a good 18 hours to really dry .the smell is not good for you and even worse is the paint thinner you use to clean up. if you should spill some on the rug you'll be high as a kite trying to get it off with paint thinner. latex needs to be repainted sooner than oil but that is really the only draw back to it. you can get odor free latex, it drys to the touch in an hour (cured in 12 hours) painting tools clean up with water if you spill some on a rug can be cleaned up if you see it as soon as it spills apples and Oranges I've used both.
Yes, but you can not put latex over oil without a primer coat between.
The water in the latex paint will soften the bristles of a brush intended for oil paint, so it is not a good idea.
Oil based primer is the best bridge between oil and latex paints. If oil based paints are not available in your area, a high adhesion acrylic primer over a well prepared surface will also work.
yes
The solution in which the pigment is suspended. i.e. the pigment is suspended in a water-based solution in latex paint, but in an oil-based solution for alkyd (oil) paints.
Just paint it on if the latex is adhering well.
Rustoleum is a brand name; however, as long as the surface is clean, oil-free and dull, you can paint any oil or latex based paint over a latex surface.
You can always paint latex ( water based )over an oil based paint as the latex just dries on the surface. However don't paint an oil based over a latex paint. Oil based paints need to absorb into the wood or other surfaces or it will just dry and flake off. For more information on the differences and when or not to use a latex or oil paint please see the following article. . http://www.ehow.com/how_4713170_between-latex-oil-base-paint.html
Either oil or latex primer can be used over interior latex paint.
It depends on the application.
No you can not.
You can not put oil paint over latex paint. Oil is a rigid coating and latex is a flexible coating. When you put a rigid coating over something that is flexible the rigid coating cracks off.
