4WD stands for four-wheel drive. The locking mechanism engages all for tired to be turned by the engine, giving you a lot more traction. Please be careful as you should not drive at higher speeds and/or take sharp turns with 4WD. Higher speeds can damage your vehicle and void warranty, Sharp turns can cause you to flip.
