Buddhism is still being practised today and it is one of the fasted growing spirtual paths.
Buddhism grew from the teachings of Siddhartha Gautam, the Buddha (hence BUDDHism). Some of his main teachings were karma, the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Paths.
Those who believed in Sanatan Vedic philosophy were least affected by Buddhism since the Vedic philosophy preached of Life Optimism and Living Blissfully whereas Buddhism had a tone of Pessimistic thought of Miseries though both believed in Righteousness and Right Paths.

Hinduism and Buddhism agree that a person life on earth is
No. Hinduism believes that life is a great suffering is connected to one's Karma or Fate while Buddhism believes that a person's mind and body are connected so if a person follows the 8 fold path of Tathagata he/she will have no suffering at all. Life is a bliss in buddhism. Suffering occurs only when you fall out of the 8 fold path.
It honestly depends on what the thesis of the paper is. If it is a comparison of the two faiths, perhaps "Paths to the Divine" or "Wandering in Search of Salvation".
Gautam Buddha started Buddhism. Seeing the miseries of human life he professed for salvation through its Eightfold Paths like the Ten Commandments. Since it denunciated Hindu rituals and spread the doctrines of Ahinsa non-violence and good living, it was accepted easily in India but spread in China the most.
