The April Fool's malicious computer program called conficker took over 5 million windows based personal computers on April Fool's Day (April 1st) in 2009; it did not infect MAC computers. On infected computers, the hackers gained full administrative-level rights. The infected computers generated 50,000 URLs per day -- webpages placed onto the internet by the worm, which means any unsuspecting person who clicked on the web URL would also infect their computer too. As fast as hackers created web pages, security experts shut down the URLs, so the worm creators created 50,000 domain names in 116 countries to continue the worm's activities. Computers in the Ukraine were excluded. Experts concluded that the risk of this worm is still present.
