ANSWER.

The British were the only country that disliked Hitlers ideology not based on military threat. The UK fought Hitler even though he offered peace with the British and had no ill feelings towards the British.

The British saw Hitler as being an extreme nationalist and racist. Also socialism of any form has always been hated by in particular the English.

Hitler repeated offers of a truce with the British but all were turned down.

In the end the Battle of Britain broke Hitlers heart, his dreams died and the following battles were simply an attempt to kill as many people a possible before Hitlers inevitable death.

Why did the British policy of appeasement fail to prevent the outbreak of World War 2?

AnswerUnder the policy of Appeasement between the world wars, the Allied powers were reluctant to stand up to Germany. British governments at the time felt guilty about the harsh peace terms of 1919, and public opinion started to waver concerning retribution towards Germany, particularly following the dismissal of all German war atrocity claims by 1928. This reluctance allowed Hitler to implement his policy of Living Space and Greater Germany. Hitler also backed up these moves witht he policy of self-determination, claiming that he was only occupying German lands. Britain sympathised and did nothing. As a result, Hitler felt he could ignore Britain, and betrayed Chamberleign by invading Czechoslovakia, which ultimately lead to the outbreak of war. It was Britain's misplaced sympathy towards Naziism and Hitler at the time that led to the war. Also, this was all occurring only a few years after WWI. No one in Europe or the world for that matter wanted to deal with that kind of destruction again. They ignored the problem in hopes that it would go away, but as we know it did not. Chamberline was afraid to start a war which is why we should all be very thankful to Mr. Churchill for becoming Prime Minister. :)

What british policy failed to stop hitler?

Because Adolf Hitler was not interested in a peaceful compromise or solution to the issues he stated publically. Most of the leaders of Britain, France, Belgium & Netherlands failed to recognize just how dangerous Hitler was, nor did they know of Hitler's plans for conquest & war.Appeasement or compromise may have had a chance to work to prevent the First World War, but it was wholly ineffective in dealing with Hitler. You have to know your enemy (easier said then done). On the flip side, even if Britain & France had attempted a stronger diplomatic technique "get tough, just say-no", then it was still very unlikely to avoid a war. Hitler was not a mere "bully' that could be forced to back-down. This technique would only have worked with Italy's Mussolini. No diplomatic solution short of surrender would have stopped Hitler. In retrospect, war with Hitler was totally unavoidable because immediate military conquest was his primary national goal. The only real way to have prevented an attempted military conquest (& war) by Hitler was to convince him that you would win the war, not him. Some may call this the 'Speak softly, but carry a big stick'-Teddy Roosevelt, technique. Apparently Hitler was convinced that Germany could win. His object was successful conquest, not national suicide.
