Catholic AnswerThis question can be answered two ways: if you are talking about literally Biblical fundamentalism then the Catholic Church upholds it as the Catholic Church wrote The Bible, and the Bible contains only what the Catholic Church has always taught. If you are talking about Biblical Fundamentalism to mean the anti-Catholic subset of protestants who hysterically connect Rome and the Catholic Church with the anti-Christ, then the answer is a little more complicated: for a complete treatment I would suggest you pick up Karl Keating's book, Catholicism and Fundamentalism - The Attack on "Romanism" by "Bible Christians" , Ignatius Press, 1988:

Fundamentalists use the Bible to protect beliefs that are, in fact, antecedent to the Bible, which is interpreted so it justified what they already hold, although most fundamentalists think what they believe comes straight out of the sacred text and that they are merely acknowledging its plain meaning. This confusion on their part is matched by one on the part of most nonfundamentalists, who think fundamentalists interpret Scripture in a strictly literal manner. This is incorrect. Fundamentalists do not take each word of the Bible in its surface sense, although it is commonly thought they do. To justify some of their doctrines, fundamentalists must discover in a metaphor a new "literal" interpretation of Scripture, and they not uncommonly find themselves arguing that what is really the plain, surface meaning is nothing but dangerous symbolism. They do not hesitate to read between the lines if such reading is needed to preserve their position--a position that precedes their scriptural interpretation.

What similarities exist between Islamic fundamentalism and fundamentalist movements in Judaism and Christianity?

The one attribute common to Islamic, Judaic and Christian fundamentalism is the absolute conviction about being right, to the exclusion of all other points of view. This becomes an obsession in which the fundamentalist is no longer able to listen to reason or consider any facts contrary to his or her beliefs. Not all fundamentalists are violent, but some believe that the world must accept their unique point of view and that the only way to achieve this is by force. Fundamentalism is not restricted to Islam, Judaism and Christianity, but is much rarer among other religions.

How does Darwin's theory of evolution challenge the biblical view of creation?

Darwin's theory states that we evolved from microbes and only the fittest survived. The biblical view of creation states that everything on earth was created by God exactly as it is.The Biblical view does not actually disagree with Darwin's theory, contrary to certain sectarian religious teachings. On the contrary, the legitimate Biblical view is that the creation accounts were allegorical in nature. Only one particular narrow, literalistic interpretation at definite odds with reality insists all creatures were fashioned within one six day window.
