What is the Challenge of Destruction in Pokemon Ranger?

The Challenge of Water, in Pokemon Ranger, is one of the tests that await the Pokemon Ranger in Summerland's Jungle Relic. With each temple challenge, you must navigate through certain obstacles and capture the Pokemon waiting for you at the end. Once the challenge is completed, the stone of one of the elements is broken and a flame is lit under the Entei statue. Also, your styler is charged to full capacity. You cannot save once you are in the challenges but you can escape at any time if you fall off the edge of something - this will require you to start over, though.

"The wrathful streams of water-dragons you must elude lest you lose your way. What awaits are the familiars of water whose angry spirits seek serenity at your hands. Whence they are so calmed, the seal of stone shall be no more, bringing conclusion upon the challenge of water. In the chambers of trial there shall be no record saved, for that in itself a challenge is posted."

This is possibly the easiest part of the four temple challenges. In this part, you must walk the path to the end without being hit by the sprays of water created by the Gyarados. Each Gyarados sprays three balls of water each that if hit you, cause you to fall to the level below - which means you start over again. Once you find your rhythm, it is quite easy to reach the end.

In the room to the back of the challenge, there are two Kingdra that you must capture. These Pokemon shoot powerful jets of water and can dive underwater. Although they take five circles to capture, the fact there are two of them makes it harder. I recommend you use Plusle's or Minun's PokeAssist.

"From four directions do strong winds blow. At times oppose them; at times accept them, and your path you shall find. Awaiting your arrival shall be the wrath of one that represents wind. By your hand you must becalm the fury that drives the savage beast. Whence the beast is so calmed, the seal of stone shall be no more, bringing conclusion upon the challenge of wind. In the chambers of trial there shall be no record saved, for that in itself a challenge is posted."

Basically, there is a maze of narrow paths that eventually lead you to the end. To make your journey harder, strong winds blow - sometimes with, mostly against. Although it is possible to walk against the wind, it does slow you down. If at any point you fall from the path, you must start over again.

At the end of the path is a room that contains the Pokemon you are to capture - Flygon. Flygon is very quick and looses great gusts of wind that interfere with capture. You must circle Flygon quickly when it stops to capture it. Be aware that Flygon also likes to fly off the screen regularly.

The Challenge of Fire, in Pokemon Ranger, is the last test that awaits the Pokemon Ranger in Summerland's Jungle Relic. With each temple challenge, you must navigate through certain obstacles and capture the Pokemon waiting for you at the end. However, this is somewhat altered in the Challenge of Fire. Once the challenge is completed, the last of the stone elements is broken and all flames are lit under the Entei statue. Also, your styler is charged to full capacity. You cannot save once you are in the challenge - you will get a chance to save later on, though.

"Violen…flam…fly…chase…nd…path you…find…awai…be a…ragon of fi… By…hand…us…calm…rives…th…vage...east…When…is…so…calme…seal…tone…no…mo…brin…co…usion…up…hallen…f…fir…chamber…f trial…there…no…save…or…itsel…challen…"

The fourth challenge's summary is broken and is illegible. A rough translation of the words would be:

"Violent flames fly and chase you around. At the end of the path you will find awaiting you be a dragon of fire. By your hand you must becalm the fury that drives the savage beast. Whence it is so calmed, the seal stone shall be no more, bringing conclusion upon the challenge of fire. In the chambers of trial there shall be no record saved, for that in itself a challenge is posted."

In this challenge, the Go-Rock Quads have tried to capture the main part of the challenge of fire - Charizard. However, their novice attempts to catch such a Pokemon has caused it a lot of pain. You and Lunick/Solana decide to capture Charizard to relieve it of its pain. Unfortunately, capturing Charizard is the object of the fourth challenge.

First you must catch up to Charizard, then the capture attempt commences. Charizard has a range of techniques to avoid capture and it doesn't help that it is very strong. Touch any of Charizard's attacks and your styler energy will decrease significantly. The trick to capturing Charizard would be PokeAssists (especially water), agility and sheer luck. Beware of hitting the flames on the ground; they damage your styler as well.

In the chambers of trial there shall be no record saved, for that in itself a challenge is posted."

In this challenge, you must use the PokeAssists of the Pokemon you encounter to clear the large obstacles in your way. To find these Pokemon, you must step on any square platform that can be found in the middle of your path. Two Pokemon will drop from the sky when you step on the square, both of which you must capture to move on. Some Pokemon have no PokeAssists but most of them help you to get further on.

Once you reach the room at the end of the path, you must capture and calm a Salamence. This Salamence shoots powerful Hyper Beams at the capture line to impede capture. The most effective way to capture Salamence is to draw a line in front of it, lift, wait until it shoots the Hyper Beam and circle it as much as you can while it is flying. Take caution when it lands, too, because it causes circles of energy to come up from the ground and can damage your styler.
