The evidence most commonly offerred is that The Bible is the word of God, and therefore is fact. God exists because the Bible says so, which is a somewhat circular argument.

Another proof offered is that the Bible agrees with the historical record. In respect to the Old Testament, this is sometimes true, but less than commonly supposed. There is nothing much in the historical or archaeological record to support the Bible story before the divided kingdoms of Judah and Israel. There is little agreement between the New Testament and the historical record, as far as it is known to us.

A proof offered for the truth of the New Testament is the willingness of the disciples to lay down their lives for the Jesus Christ that they had known personally. However, there is actually no evidence that any of the disciples suffered martyrdom. The stories of the martyrdom of the apostles arose in the second and third centuries.

Yes. In fact, if someone says "the Bible" without additional qualification, you assume they are talking about the Christian Bible.

What do the Jewish and christian bible both contain?

There isn't so much a Jewish Bible, as there is the Tanakh, and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible is effectively the same as the Tanakh. This results from the fact that Christianity originated as a Jewish sect.

Where in the Bible does it mention Thomas the apostle as a missionary in India?

Is there evidence of a human cheating death?

A:There is evidence of humans cheating death in Greek mythology and in the Bible, as well as the scriptures of other religions. Christians say that the other evidence is false and only the biblical evidence is true. On the Christian view, Elijah, Lazarus and Jesus cheated death, and perhaps Enoch, although there is no evidence outside the Bible.

What is the evidence that the Bible is God's word?

The Bible is not infallible. There is no evidence that it is Gods word. But there is evidence that it is a Hebrew idea (thoughtform). The Bible is considered to be Judeo Christian, although it has influences from Egypt, Persia, Greece, maybe even China and India. It might be better to say that it is a God's word. There's no evidence of God himself ever existing, so there will not be any evidence that he decided what went into the bible. That's why most Christians will just tell you they have faith. See the related link on the left for a Christian perspective on the question. If the Bible is really God's word, then all it's Prophecies & Promises will be fulfilled, and the events will not contradict, agree? See link on left on Prophecy & Promises, History & Science and Absurdities in the Bible.

When do you start using Bible in court?

If you are a Christian or a Jew, you may be asked to swear an oath on the Bible before giving evidence, saying that the evidence you give will be wholly truthful. Usually, if there is a court recess during your evidence, you would not be asked to swear a new oath on the Bible, but you may be informed that the oath you have already given continues to apply. If you are not a Christian you do not need to use the Bible, but may ask to give an affirmation instead of a religious oath. Muslims may swear by the Koran in some jurisdictions.
