There are few Christians today who believe that revelation is still available to mankind in this day and age. Yet every person is entitled to revelation, a father may have revelation regarding his family just as each individual is so entitled. Revelation did not stop at the birth of Christ, not did it stop when The Bible was made available to all men. It is still available to all mankind who are honest in heart and have a desire to have questions ed. Christian leaders think that just because we have the bible there is no more need for revelation, how wrong they are for there is a greater need for revelation in this day and age of trials and tribulations.

The Christian response to revelation is to believe it and receive it, if you are referring here to the written revelation of the word of the living God. The problem with many today is that they want a new revelation and also do not test any alleged 'revelation' against the clear word of God, since God will obviously not contradict Himself.

What is often meant by revelation is thus not a Christian revelation, if put under the tests outlined in God's word. A number of cults today have made new revelations which contradict God's clear word, such as stating that Jesus Christ is not fully God as the New Testament teaches. Such new revelations make these groups not Christian in that they reject God's witness to His Son and thus according to 2 John also then do not have the Father either.

For me, revelation is a revealing of the character or nature of God to me by Him. This is not something that is understood in the usual way, not an intellectual exercise, but a "knowing". God has given me a lot of revelations, through different means. SOmetimes it is by a picture or a scene which unfolds in my imagination. SOmetimes it is in reading a part of the Bible that comes alive inside and I can apply it to my life in a practical and enhancing way.

I'll give you an example. There's a scripture that says" You are hidden in Christ, in God." For years I saw that as being snugly tucked in the fist of Jesus, which was neatly tucked in the fist of God. About a year ago, I read this same scripture and I saw a whole different picture- that of being a star in the cosmos, hidden in the expanse, but so known to God that He could point to where I was amongst the myriads of other stars. This opened up my understanding of the magnitude of God and His ability to consider me even when He created everything. Being hidden in the universe was a whole lot more freeing that being holed up in a fist. I was able to begin to apply the freedom that comes in a life lived in God. I know it sounds a little weird, but that is God- He is neither conventional, religious or boring. He s creative, surprising and great to hang with. I say yay God!!

What is unique about the Christian belief about revelation?

The unique thing about Christian Revelation is that the whole world is in Sin, that we are infected by sin, the only way to cur this is that G_Ds own son Jesus Christ, die for our sin that we may be cured, and be made whole. The truth? That we have been given the revelation before time, we know what is to come. We do not have to die before we find out a "Spiritual reality"
