It depends where in Cape Verde you are thinking about. The islands to the East and North (Sal, Boa Vista, Maio, Sao Nicolau, Santa Luzia, Sao Vincente and Santo Antao) are dry, arid and receive little rain. The other islands (Santiago, Fogo, and Brava) in the South receive more rain and are greener at certain times of the year.

The climate in the Northern and Eastern islands are hot and dry. The Climate in the South Western islands is hot and humid. Temperatures range from 27 to 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Hot weather is often accompanied by a cooling breeze, which blows at its most fiercest in February. At the hottest times of the year this breeze can be a welcome visitor.

When rain comes it is often short and heavy. The rainy seasons tend to be the summer months from July to September and are mostly confined to the southern islands. There is no real 'rainy season' just periods of the year when rain is more likely.

There are no hurricanes that affect the islands.
