Democritus of Adbera was an ancient Greek philosopher, who conceived the idea that matter was made up of minuscule, irreducible particles, which he called atoms, a name derived from the Greek word atomos, meaning indivisible.) He said this about it:
"Nothing exists except atoms and empty space. Everything else is opinion"
Democritus' conception of the atom was, we now know, incorrect - the atom is not indivisible - but he was surprisingly close to the truth. However, being a philosopher and not a scientist, he never made any attempt to determine whether his theory was correct. As a result, although he is rightfully given credit as the first person to come up with this idea, he doesn't really deserve much more than that. In addition, Aristotle, one of the most highly respected Greek philosophers, hated the idea, and therefore it was forgotten until 1803, when John Dalton resuscitated the concept.
Democritus, known in antiquity as the 'laughing philosopher' because of his emphasis on the value of 'cheerfulness,' was one of the two founders of ancient atomist theory. He elaborated a system originated by his teacher Leucippus into a materialist account of the natural world. The atomists held that there are smallest indivisible bodies from which everything else is composed, and that these move about in an infinite void space. Of the ancient materialist accounts of the natural world which did not rely on some kind of teleology or purpose to account for the apparent order and regularity found in the world, atomism was the most influential. Even its chief critic, Aristotle, praised Democritus for arguing from sound considerations appropriate to natural philosophy.
Democritus proposed the idea that all mater is made up of atoms, tiny indivisible particles that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. This was in contrast to the rivaling theories that all mater was made up of certain quantities of fire, earth water and air.
Atomos. Indivisible, in Greek. His conceptualization of the atom as the smallest constituent of matter.
His main contribution to chemistry was the suggestion of the atom which he called "atomos".
Leucippus and his disciple Democritus were the founders of the atomic theory of matter.

This was an intuition of Leukippus and Democritus.

he allowed us to understand a basic building block leading to the atomic clock and bomb
Democritus's main contribution to physics was discovery of the atom. He devoted his life to finding out as much as possible to create what is thought to be the first atomic theory.
Wikipedia has no reference of Democritus' contribution to Trig. He contributed to Atomic theory, and to Geometry. Some Geometry and Trig. topics overlap, so maybe that is what you are referring to.

Democritus was born before Aristotle. Democritus lived from around 460–370 BC, while Aristotle lived from 384–322 BC.
Democritus was a philosopher, not an experimentalist.
Democritus began the atomic theory. He was the first to theorize that if you keep cutting stuff down smaller and smaller, you will eventually reach the smallest piece possible. He was, however, put down by Aristotle. Aristotle had a larger and stronger following, so people dismissed Democritus as a lunatic.
