Digital electronics is like a light switch. You either have power there or you do not. If you have power the output is considered to be a "1", if there is no power there it is considered to be at "0" state.

In analog electronics there is a great deal of gray in between. If you put 1 volt into an amp you will see maybe 10 volts out, if the power to the input increases, the output will do so also. It is called being in the linear section of the device.

As far as recordings go, digital sounds better because there is never information loss due to variances in equipment. The information of a recording is stored in thousands of 1's and 0's each second. Analog allows for loss because the noise in the system could be below the level of any given amp to restore the sound.

In analog technology, a wave is recorded or used in its original form. For example, when a wave from a microphone is laid directly onto a tape. In digital technology, the analog wave is sampled and converted into numbers that are stored on a digital device. A CD would be an example of digital technology as it stores 44,000 numbers for each second of music.

The basic difference is that in analog modulation the modulating signal is analog signal and in digital modulation it is in digital form.

What is the difference between digital computers and hybrid computers?

Digital computers are purely digital, i.e. they use digital(electronic) means to process data. Hybrid computers conversely use both digital and analog technologies.

What is the difference between digital and analogs?

In chemistry, analog is a compound with a molecular structure closely similar to another. Analog is also relating to or using signals or info represented by a continuously variable physical quantity such as spatial position or voltage. Analog is often contrasted (opposite) of DIGITAL --like a clock showing the time represented by "hands" instead of being Displayed DIGITS.

Difference between analog audio and digital audio?

In analog ckt there is more distortion but in digital there is no distortion. Analog is a continues value digital is a discrite value(0 or 1). To measure analog is very difficult but in digital it is very easy. compare to analog the digital system is very compart for us. H.L.Kiran

What is the difference between a modem and a codec?

* Codec is for coding analog data into digital form and decoding it back. The digital data coded by Codec are samples of analog waves. * Modem is for modulating digital data into analog form and demodulating it back. The analog symbols carry digital data.
