The German original (translation below): Die Blume der Blumen 1) Es blüht eine schöne Blume in einem weiten Land, Die ist so selig geschaffen und wenigen bekannt, Ihr Duft erfüllet die Tale, ihr Glanz erleuchtet den Wald, Und wo ein Kranker sie siehet, die Krankheit entweichet bald. 2) Wo kommt im Morgenwinde die blitzende Sonne her? Was glüht am kühlen Abend auf Bergen, an Wolken, im Meer? Die Bäch' und Seen erglänzen im klaren Mondesschein; Am Himmel sind unsre Hütten, drinn' leuchten Sternelein. 3) Drei Könige kamen gezogen zu einem Heiligtum, Der Stern stand über dem Hause, drinn' lag die süße Blum'; Wenn ich zwei Augen erblicke die funkeln hin und her, So wünsch' ich: daß im Herzen dies süße Blümlein wär! English translation: The flower of flowers 1) A beautiful flower blossoms in a distant country, It`s of a nature so blessedly and known to a few, Its flavour fills the dale, its brightness enlightens the wood, And when a sick person sees it, the sickness will disappear soon. 2) Wherefrom comes in the wind of the morning the sparkling sunlight? What glows in cool evenings on the mountains, the clouds, in the sea? The streams and lakes are shining in the bright moonlight; In heaven are our cottages, stars are twinkling within. 3) Three kings wandered and came to a sanctuary, The star arose over the house, inside the sweet flower rested. When I see two eyes that are sparkling to and fro, Then I wish that sweet flower would be in my heart!
