What is the Labor hours to replace a Chevy 3500 series intake manifold gasket?

It should take about an hour to change the intake manifold gasket. This part can be replaced by taking off the intake manifold cover, cleaning the old gasket off and sealing a new gasket in the space and tightening the bolts. When other things are in the way, like the alternator, it will take longer.

If it has a Northstar series engine, it is under the intake manifold right in the middle of the valley and contacts the top of the flywheel.

This is a common problem for all Saturn S-Series 2000-2002. The plastic intake manifold cracks at the coolant stems, even if the engine does not overheat. This is especially true in the southern half of the US (hotter climate). The intake manifold would need to be replaced, or repaired so no further damage will occur like overheating the engine. yes, you should replace ALL gaskets that you come across. When you release pressure on a gasket, the seal has now been lifted. You need to place all new gaskets so they can set and create a new seal. if you are just doing the head gasket, not getting the head surfaced or doing any other work- then getting the head gasket and any others piece by piece will be more economical- the head set will include intake/exhaust manifolds, valve cover, valve stem seals, etc... the valve cover gasket can be re-used if in good condition (not hardened), and you can pull the head on the d-series motor with intake and exhaust manifolds attached

The GM 3100 and/or 3400 series engines have had a major problem with intake manifold gaskets for years. GM incorporated a hard plastic gasket with rubbers on it to seal the manifold. While these gaskets worked ok for awhile, as temperature differences in your engine takes place, i.e. running the car, shutting the car off, etc., the rubber material seperates from the plastic and the gasket fails. Normally you will not experience an external leak. Check your engine oil - if it looks like chocolate milk or if there is alot of milky buildup on the bottom side of your oil filler cap then you probably have antifreeze mixing with your engine oil. It is best to not drive your vehicle until you get this situation fixed. Also note that about 1 out of 10 vehicles that exhibit this condition may also need to have the cylinder head gaskets replaced - this is normally the case when the intake manifold is removed and the original gaskets do not look too bad.

It depends on which two engines you're talking about... If the supercharger is integrated into the intake manifold of the DOHC engine... and the two engines the DOHC and SOHC are based on the same engine block series (example the mitsbuishi 4G block with the 4G63 being a DOHC and the 4G69 being the newer Mivec SOHC) , and if the cylinder head shared the same intake manifold bolt pattern... If all of those things were true, then yes it is possible So if the supercharger is integrated into the intake manifold... first thing you should do is go to an auto parts store and compare the intake manifold gasket from the SOHC engine to the intake manifold gasket from the DOHC engine... if the two gaskets, port holes, and bolt holes line up perfectly then you know that the supercharger and manifold will bolt up to your engine head. The other part of this is belt routing ... Even engines that have the same engine block sometimes have different auxilliary parts on them such as a different sized water pump pulley, a different mounting point for the alternator or power steering pumps ... as well as other optional equipment like smog pumps ...etc So the same engine block coming in a SOHC and DOHC package might have different belt routing, different engine bay clearances ...etc which may or may not allow you to properly take off a belt drive to drive the supercharger, even if it bolted up to the engine pay or to the cylinder head properly. So those are the two points you have to research: 1- Bolting it on (weather it's in the manifold or in the bay bolted onto the engine block itself but separate from the manifold) 2- Belt routing

There is no - repeat - no PCV on the 4.0 motor and many others in this year range. The crankcase ventilation system is actually the smaller plastic hose plugged at the rear of the valve cover leading to the intake manifold. It has a sized hole to control the amount of air it draws through the intake. Installing a PCV into the larger hose at front will pressurize the crankcase and blow the weakest gasket, causing oil leaks and a series of gasket and seal changes that never solve the problem. Do not install a PCV unless you know for a fact the factory put it there.

If you look up under the back of the truck at the rear end housing, you will see a round plate with at least 10 bolts in it. Take all the bolts out. When you remove the plate grease will run out. Clean old gasket off, replace with new gasket, Put plate back on and fill with grase.

Let's see...cracked head, cracked head gasket, cracked intake gasket, bad cylinder liner or cracked block, air compressor head gasket...if this was a Cat 3116 I'd also look at the oil cooler or an injector sleeve, but it's not so that's probably not it.

behind the throttle looks like a motor facing downward toward the exhaust manifold. it connects the tube from the exhaust to the lower intake.

On that year of 5-series. Yes it would have to be the same year and series because the '89 525i has the M20 engine whereas the rest of the 5 series, '90 and up have the M50 engine. I had to replace the head gasket in my '89 525I and I installed a brand new head and cam since I had everything out of it. It sounds like coolant is getting in your oil. Recheck you intake manifold gasket.Hopefully the head gasket sealed up. Did you have the heads surfaced? Did you pressure test heads for leaks? When head gaskets go the heat can crack/warp cylinder heads.Mark. Also, make sure you buy original Rover gaskets, as many after market gaskets arn't up to the job. Rick.

If you remove the 3800 series plastic cover, look to the left of the intake manifold directly in front of the alternator. You will see an electrical connection-this is the MAP sensor, which is clipped into place. Remove the MAP sensor by unclipping it and pulling it out, and then twist and remove the PCV valve cover right underneath the MAP sensor. The PCV valve is right underneath that cover. Pop it out and replace it, and put the PCV valve cover back on along with the MAP, and finally replace the 3800 series cover and you're good.

If you have the 3800 series II V-6, then it's located underneath the acoustic dampener (the plastic engine cover that says series II on it) on the passenger side of the black abs plastic intake plenum (the intake manifold). It can be found between the alternator on the firewall side and the coil pack on the front side of the engine.
