An evil Sith Lord named Palpatine succeeds in taking over the galaxy by a combination of deception and murder, but eventually his chief agent, Darth Vader, realizes that Palpatine is evil and kills him, thus restoring sanity to the galaxy (but not before blowing up the entire planet Aldaran, a crime so monstrous that I personally can never forgive him).
