Your water pump is located behind your serpentine belts, where your timing cluster is, the best way to access it will be to loosen your radiator and pull it forward, remove both serpentine belts, and dismount the tensioner pulley under your alternator, and after you remove all the cover shields to your timing cluster, your water pump is the pulley in the center. If you are over 120,000 miles it would be smart to change your timing belt and your tensioner pulley as well. Be sure to have a tight seal on your new water pump because it's a real hassle to keep going in there.
97 dodge intrepid, new fuel pump, won't start
On the 3.5 intrepid engine, the water pump is run by the timing "belt"- no timing chain on this motor. Not sure about the 3.3 motor. On the 3.3L the water pump is driven by the serpentine belt.
3.3L it is serpentine belt driven.
The pump and most of the sensors are inside the transmission
Fuel pump is located in the gas tank.
under the water pump.
if your wondering where it is...it's in the gas tank(drivers side rear)
how to replace 97 Lincoln water pump
Dodge does not use inertia/reset switches.
No abs on the 97.
Most 97 3.5 Liter engines are three bolts (10MM) I believe. I have heard some late model 97 3.5 Liter engines had a four bolt water pump. You would need to remove the front timing cover to verify which yours is. Hope this answers your question.
in the tank
