The Canadian Shield-also called the Laurentian Plateau, or Bouclier Canadien (French)-is a massive geological shield covered by a thin layer of soil that forms the nucleus of the North American or Laurentia craton. It is an area mainly covered by igneous rock which relates to its long volcanic history. It has a deep, common, joined bedrock region in eastern and central Canada and stretches North from the Great Lakes to the Arctic Ocean, covering over half of Canada; it also extends south into the northern reaches of the United States. Population is scarce, and industrial development is minimal,[3] although the region has a large hydroelectric power potential.

The Canadian Shield is a large part of the North American craton. It is a stable geological region made up of ancient rocks that have remained relatively undisturbed for billions of years.
It's called the Canadian Shield.
The North American craton consists primarily of two main regions: the Canadian Shield and the interior platform. The Canadian Shield is characterized by exposed Precambrian rocks and is located in eastern and central Canada, while the interior platform extends southward into the United States, featuring sedimentary rock layers overlying the ancient basement rocks. Together, these areas represent the stable, ancient geological core of North America.
More on it than in it but yes there are moose living in the forests of the Canadian Shield. The Shield extends into the north so there are caribou as well.
