The o/d button is the fourth gear on a 2000 Land Cruiser. You can use this button to help the car brake by using the engine. If you press the button at around 55-60mph the rpm will jump up to around 4500rpm using the engine to slow you down or allow you to accelerate to the red-line limiter.
