"Peet" is the call of the Rio Grande Chirping Frog (Eleutherodactylus cystignathoides).

Specifically, the voice of the Rio Grande Chirping Frog is high in pitch and insect-like in quality. It tends to cluster the "peet" sound into groups of twos or fours. It is similar to the call of the Cliff Chirping Frog (E. marnockii), but much higher in pitch. The call may be heard during the day and at night, in April and May and even into June and July. It occurs after rains and during warm, humid weather.
