I don't know of any officially secret book of the Catholic Church.
I have sometimes wondered, though, whether the Catechism of the Catholic Church isn't one of the Church's best-kept secrets; so few Catholics seem to bother to read it.
Roman Catholic AnswerThe Catholic Church has no "secret book", the only official book that the Church has produced is The Bible and the Missal. There are other books that it has produced by its members: the Breviary, the Catechism, etc. As noted above, The Catechism of the Catholic Church is joining the Bible as one of those books that everybody buys and puts on their bookshelf and never reads. One of the "secrets" that people seem to want to know about is the Index of Forbidden Books - the last Index is attached below, it was done away with by Pope Paul VI in 1966.If, however, you are referring to the Secret Archives in the Vatican, please remember that throughout history (as in like ten years ago!) people have written to the Vatican for various things. An awful lot of this stuff is under the "seal". The Catholic Church has been famous throughout history for keeping secrets. If you are a Catholic, and you go to confession next Saturday and confess murdering someone, planning some horrible mass murder scheme, and your serious sexual problems: you may leave the confessional with absolute certainly that no one is ever going to know - ever. If you are having a problem with your marriage, you divorce your wife and then later want to get married again, so you go talk to your priest and file for an annulment. You discuss all the things about yourself and your ex-wife that you really wouldn't want your boss or your neighbor to know about. It all goes into a report that ends up in the Vatican, and gets filed away-quess where? The Secret Archives. of course they are secret. Kings and Queens, chambermaids and thieves all have applied to the Vatican for something that they want no one to know about.
Well, the Holy Father has decided that some of that can be viewed. I don't know why he has done it, but he is the Vicar of Christ, and I am not. So, some of those secrets are on display right now. You can look at the links below:
