The US Supreme Court is the head of the Judicial branch of government, and is the highest appellate court, for federal cases and state cases that involve questions of federal or constitutional law, in the United States. The Court also has original jurisdiction over a restricted class of cases.

The Supreme Court is the final arbiter of the US Constitution, and has the authority of judicial review, which allows it to nullify unconstitutional laws if they are legally challenged and brought before the Court.
