The T V cable is a "Throttle Valve" cable and is located by the throttle body and is part of the throttle and can be adjusted by simply pushing on the adjustment part of the TV....by adjusting the cable it will affect the shift points of your trans.

It is on the side of the throttle body opposite the throttle cable.

The transmission uses a cable for linkage. If the car has consol shift the cable runs from the shifter to the transaxle. If it is a column shift the cable runs from a lever on the column to the transaxle.

Yes it will go wright in with no problems. as long as the 1987 is a TBI and not a carburetor fuel system. May need to change exhaust manifolds and motor mounts,

They should be interchangeable as long as they are both flat tappet engines (not roller).

should be about halfway back on the left side of the tranny unless the tranny is not a cable mount. some of the trannys were electric, but the connection would be in the same place on the tail shaft of the tranny on the driver side.

carb problems, adjust the idle screw and see if that helps

User Avatar

Yes it can. 1973-1987 were almost the same. It can as long as you use all the components from the '87, including the TV cable to the carb, and adjust it correctly as the 87 uses a TH700R4 trans and New Process transfer case
