Why was the commercial for California lottery changed?

SACRAMENTO (AP) - The California Lottery Commission is pulling an ad featuring a "Lady Luck" character bestowing good fortune on a young man by smacking him across the face, a spot that drew criticism from female lawmakers. The web and TV ad was pulled Thursday. It shows a woman in a black leather jacket slapping a man playing a California scratchers ticket. The man then wins what appears to be a good deal of money, having been "struck by Lady Luck." State Sen. Noreen Evans and Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal, Democrats who lead the Legislative Women's Caucus, said in a letter to the commission that the ad "glamorizes violence" and should be dropped. Commission spokesman Russ Lopez said the commercial will be replaced with one in which Lady Luck blows the man a kiss. (Copyright 2012 The Associated Press.)
