"Australia" is a European derived word, Therefore it has no original aboriginal meaning.

At the start of the European settlement, there were over 250-300 spoken languages with 600 dialects. There is therefore no single aboriginal word that would pertain to the continent of Australia.

Also, they had no knowledge of any other country that would cause them to want to name Australia and with a vocabulary of about 1000 words they only named their local tribal land features and if they lived in the interior had no knowledge of the coastal areas (and vice verse).
