I think Quran gives complete details about every important aspect of our religion and it also gives an example, too. See 17:89. Salah (Contact Prayers) is no exception. Salah comes from the Arabic root S-L-H which means contact so the purpose of Salah is to have contact with God. By comparison, a prayer (Dua) is usually just asking God for something and may not contain any communication.
The best example of Salah given in Quran is Zachariah's 19:1-7 and 3:39-41 so what Zachariah, the Chief Jewish Priest did was an example of how we Muslims should pray. This way, you can say only funeral prayers of Muslims resembles the correct form of prayers the most.
Verse 10:12 also suggests that this Contact Prayer could be done in any position comfortable and conducive to deep meditation such as (a) standing, (b) sitting in any way, (3) lying in any way, (4) kneeling or bowing in any way. The most important thing is to be comfortable and happy.
Also, in Chapter Juma'ah (Friday) 62:9, it is said "...if the call for prayer is done from the day of Friday..." so it doesn't say "on Friday" but "from the day of Friday" i.e. the Sabbath. In verse 10:94, Quran advises to ask Jews & Christians for any difficult matters and these people perform prayers the same way Quran has described and gave examples.
