The main difference is that a Western saddle has a horn, while an English saddle does not.
Saddle seat is a type of English riding that involves a high-stepping horse, and the rider has his/her legs farther out in front than in most English saddles. Western is a type of riding where the saddle has a horn, and is deeper and more secure than an English saddle. Western riders do not jump.

An everyday saddle may differ from person to person depending on preference. But, for english riders and all-purpose saddle could be used eveyday. It is suitable for jumping as well as dressage. It can be used for leisurely hacking and gentle riding as well.
No, Australian riders may use a variety of saddle types depending on the discipline and personal preference. While Australian saddles are common, riders may also use English or Western saddles for different activities such as dressage, jumping, or trail riding.
Of course you can. But most Western riders use a sitting trot. But when you trot, make sure you are on the right diagonal. :)
Yes, a cinch is on a western saddle, a girth is on an English saddle.
There is no equivalent to a saddle horn on an English saddle. The English saddle has no horn to any equivalent. The Western saddle was made for the cowboys, who needed something to help anchor the rope to after roping a cow. This is where the Western saddle was invented, designed for comfort for long days of hard riding in the saddle, and for usefulness, which is why it has all the little straps to tie things to, perfect room for saddle bags and such, and with the saddle horn having the direct purpose of dallying the rope. The English saddle was not used by cowboys, and therefore, there was no use for a saddle horn, so there is nothing there.
Well it won't be as hard to switch to western riding as it would be to switch to english riding. I do both and you'll basically just have to adjust to a more dressage like posture in the saddle, keeping a lose rein, typically using just one hand, and even using more visible type cues. English riders tend to be more smooth in their movements while western riders tend to be quite visible when cueing. Also the saddle will give you a little more balance as it's not as hard to sit on a western saddle, but they tend to 'bounce' the rider around a bit also. Also be ready for a western horses show gaits as they will feel odd at first.
Since most western saddles are heavier than most English saddles, a horse could probably run faster with an English saddle, specifically a racing saddle. However, if the rider's weight combined with the saddle is more than the western saddle and the rider's weight then the horse could run faster with the lesser weight.
The Western saddle is deeper and heavier, and it has a horn (handle)on the front for holding onto and tying cattle or horses to. It also has wooden stirrups, while a English saddle has metal ones. Of course you can teach a western horse to ride english.
your not sopose to. but yes if it is a thin smaller saddle pad you may. you can NOT! i repeat NOT! aloud to use a English pad for a western saddle as this pad may be too small for the saddle and with bridged the withers and back of the horse. be carefull on what you use on your horse! i reqamend to buy a western saddle pad if you are planing to ride western.
