Domestic tourism is traveling within one's own country while international tourism is traveling to any place outside of a person's country of residence. In a comparison between American tourism and international tourism, there are vast differences in the amount of travel that other countries do as well as the conditions for the traveling. American's travel significantly less than residents of other countries. It is widely accepted for most European citizens to take short holidays, several times a year. Most employers allow for them to travel often. Also, many non-American countries have lower expectations of hotels and conditions, commonly staying in hostels and spending time in the culture instead of spending money.
