There's very few Remington things you can identify by just a serial but you got lucky ;)

i have the same serial # and i found out that it was a 1973 remington and it shoots like hell i hate it its to old

Remingtons are dated not by serial number but by a 2 or 3 LETTER code stamped on the barrel- left side, about a half inch from the receiver. The Remington Collectors Association website has the chart to interpret the letters.

You don't, you use the barrel code. If you don't have the original barrel you can try calling Remington.

Serial numbers were not required before 1968. If it has one, it will be on the barrel/receiver.
if you have a bass pro shop or cabela's close to you take it there and they can tell you everything you need to know about it
They have date code stamps on the barrel which can be looked up on the manufacture date link on the Remington Society of America. --- Update: It's important to note that the barrel on the shotgun MAY not be the barrel that was originally on the shotgun at purchase. Check the serial number with Remington.
