There really does not seem to be much, if any, information available on the exact date of manufacture by s/n for the Ithaca manufactured Lefever Nitro Specials. This firearm was in production fron 1921 till shortly after the Second World War. I have a source that states that the last s/n issued was 361,199 in 1947. This same source stated that s/n's did not start a 0 but instead at s/n 100,000. Another source gives the total estimated production as 340,000. Confusing, but that's the way it is with some of these older firearms. There was also about 24,000 Nitro Special in a single barrel configuration. I cannot tell you if this was included in either of the above counts.
