The value of the 410 Sears and Roebuck JC Higgins Model 101 shotgun varies greatly with its condition. In excellent condition the gun retails for about 250 dollars or so.
Your shotgun was made for Sears by Stevens, and is their model 311. It should take 2.5 inch and 3 inch .410 shells.
This is actually the Stevens 39A/59A, a bolt action utility shotgun generally valued at $125 in excellent condition. You might get $150 to $200 because of the box.
We have parts for that model. sales@countrygunsmith.netI have been trying to email sales@countrygunsmith.net and I keep getting my email back as undeliverable; is this (sales@countrygunsmith.net) the correct address? Please advise.
Sears has a recall on some of their J C Higgins 12 ga and they will send you $165 just for the bolt if it is a bolt action shotgun. I had one and that's what they sent me.

Sears started using the JC Higgins name on firearms in the mid 1940s and discontinued all firearms sales in the 1970s.
That shotgun was made for Sears by Savage/Stevens and is basically the Stevens 59A bolt-action. Remove the takedown screw from the bottom of the stock and separate the metal from the wood. Remove the bolt stop screw from the left side of the receiver and remove the bolt rearward. We do not recommend any further disassembly.
