take a look at the bottle, usually it will say 40%. i.e. every measure has 40% alcohol and 60% water.

Some can be cask strength which can be anywhere from 43-60% depending on age. Most Scotch is filled in to casks at 63.5% but some fill in to casks at 68.5%
