So the "canonical interpretation" of Animal Farm is that it is a parable of the Russian Revolution of the twentieth century. Orwell created each animal to represent either a person or a class of people, and many of the events (e.g., the windmill stuff) parallel actual events in history. The following are generally accepted notions:
im not sure for sure but a allegory is a short story with a moral which often uses animals to represent characters eg Animal farm is a allegory about the Russian Revolution Napoleon represents Stalin Snowball represents Trotsky Please let me know if that makes any sense

Animal Farm is George Orwell's 1945 book on the soviet revolution. The main storyline of the book follows animals that act out events from the communist revolution. The pigs are the leaders of the revolution sutch as Trotsky, Lenin, and Stalin. The farmer and his friends and hounds are the tsarist regime. The non-pig animals are the russian people. The book matches the major events of the USSR's history. the pig Napoleon is Stalin who wants nationalised communism and force, in the book communism is the idea of the farm run by animals. Whille Snowball the pig is Trotsky, who wants global communism and wants to export help to other farms and to have global revolutions. Like in real life the stalin pig brainwashes a generation of the youth, in the story he steals puppies and brainwashes them, and he orders the killing of the trotsky pig as to gain power. As the story goes on the animals are forced to work harder and harder and are given promises that never come true. The end shows the pigs becoming people as to match the farmer from the begining and how the communist revolution of russia that formed the USSR never made a utopia it created worse lives for its people and just changed the leadership.

These plays emerged in 16th-century Italy and featured stock characters with distinct personalities and traits, as opposed to symbolic representations common in allegorical plays. Commedia dell'arte relied on improvisation and comedic situations to entertain audiences.
