The main focus is to present the first covenants, or promises, that God made with mankind, and to tell a history lesson. The Law of Moses is thoroughly explained in the last four books, and that was the heart of it all. As far as history, the final four books go through the Exodus event and the giving of the Torah, up until the time of entry into Canaan. Genesis details the history of the world, its origin and some key events as they relate to the origin of nations and particularly the Jewish nation. In the sense of history it could be said that the five books relate the history of God's dealings with mankind, and particularly with the chosen people, the Jews.
