I have been working with a friend that needed to replace the thermostat on a Chrysler Town and Country 3.8 liter. Hers is a 2003 model. The thermostat itself is only $9.99, new gasket $1.00. The local dealer quoted $80.00 for a replacement that took about 30 minutes and minimal tools.
The dealer recommended a cooling system flush and refill. Again I thought this was excessive at $140.00.
I will say that although the thermostat was easy to replace, unfortunatly this was not the needed fix. This vehicle needed a water pump replacement.
To replace the thermostat on a Chrysler Pacifica, first locate the thermostat housing just behind the alternator. Remove the two bolts holding this on, then remove the old thermostat. Replace with a new thermostat and thermostat gasket. The put the bolts back in and tighten down. Make sure to check the antifreeze levels after this project.
To replace a thermostat on a 2005 Chrysler Sebring first drain the coolant from the vehicles radiator, the engine must be shut off during this repair. Then follow the main radiator line to the thermostat housing. Remove the housing and replace the thermostat inside. Refill the coolant.
Broken thermostat. Common Chrysler problem. Replace the thermostat.
Just follow the top rad hose to the engine. Where it attached is the thermostat housing. undo bolts, replace thermostat (the right way up) with a new gasket and bolt housing back on.
The thermostat housing on a Chrysler 302.7 L engine can be removed by loosening the 3 housing bolts. Remove the water hose and the housing will come off. Reverse the process to replace with a new housing.
Replacing a thermostat in a car is easily done. A 2000 Chrysler is done like any other car. You open the hood, and locate the thermostat near where you put water in, and then you just remove it with a wash cloth.
Which engine 2.7L, 3.2L or 3.5l ?
You will need to take it into a mechanic. They will be able to provide you with the parts that are needed to do it right.
Replace it.
