Technically a car can last forever if you have the money to keep repairing the parts that break and you don't total it. So what your really asking is about what mileage will the car begin to cost more than it's worth. The answer is after 120,000 miles. That's about when everything will slowly start to break one after the other. You'll lose break a window button. Then one of your window motors goes out. Then your coolant pump will break. Windshield wiper motor next. And so on. Volkswagon is a great car company. But at 120,000 miles roughly, the little things will start to break.
