I have worked for GARDA for 3.5 years and make $30,000/year. We do not get commission for ATMs and everyone, including ex-military and police, start at the same pay scale. Everything is based on hourly wage and we don't get overtime pay because of the commercial driver loophole (armored trucks are not classified commercial by the way. We aren't paid by the mile. I smell a lawsuit.). But all in all it's a decently dependable job with benefits, paid vacation, 401k, etc. I'd say it's a good stepping stone, but not an extremely successful career job. Go work at UPS.
From what I remember, I drive an 18-wheeler, eligibility for overtime is based on whether you drive intra-, or interstate. Interstate drivers, by regulation, don't have to be paid overtime. However, the company you drive for can pay overtime if it chooses too. Also, if the vehicle is not registered as a commercial vehicle you can not be restricted from receiving overtime. The overtime regulation is based on whether the vehicle is defined, and used as a commercial vehicle. http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs19.pdf
