Our church pays based on 3 hours per week expected...$100 per month. Now, there are 2 months that have 5 weeks, but if the janitor can't do it a week here or there...is still paid $100 per month. So, basically it's $25 for 3 hours of work or $8.25 per hour. This is for Mitchell, SD so definitely could be variable according to where you live. Problem with this scenerio is that one person expects x, y and z to be completed and another person expects completely different things. There are people that have expectations that would completely take way more than 3 hours per week! Make sure you have the expectations, a time study on how long those expectations should take to complete (usually at least 3 able-bodied people completing those tasks and averaging), figuring in what normal janitorial pay is in your area, and going from there.
