In Summer it is light day and night, medium temp, 40-60 degrees F. In Winter it is just the opposite, dark, and very cold. Those are mainly the two seasons in Alaska, that I know of. That depends where you are in Alaska - if you cut Alaska in half, Texas would be the 3rd largest state. It's a big one. South East Alaska is comparable to Seattle/Vancouver, Anchorage is a bit of a banana belt with temperatures ranging from -10 in winter to mid 70s in summer. The transitions of spring & fall are rapid, generally lasting about a month. The interior of Alaska, Fairbanks and points north can get up to the high 80s in summer, and easily -50 in winter. This is without wind chill. Historically the best weather is in June, statewide.
In the Gobi Desert, the summer temp is 122 degrees and in winter it is -40 degrees

Johannesburg have warm weather on a more constent basis, meaning daily summer temp of between 28 - 33 degrees celcius while Cape Town have temp going as high as 42 degrees and sometimes even higher. If all of these are taken into consideration and look at the averages as provided by the South African Weather Services then Cape Town average is 23 degrees and Johannesburg 21 degree, following by Pretoria.
