3:73 with a limited slip
I ASSUME axle code " 86 " is the same as it is on the ( 1996 ) Ford Ranger ( 3.73 gear ratio , conventional / non - limited slip )
I believe the axle code is listed on a sticker on the end of the drivers door The axle code will correspond to an axle ratio Once a person knows the axle code , the ratio can be looked up
The Axel code is on the drivers side door [On the post] it is stated on the sticker either a H9 which is a 3:55 ratio or an I9
Open the drivers door and look for an information sticker , you are looking for the axle code . Submit a question with the axle code and I'll see if I can find the ratio axle code 86 axle tag s3708
You'd have to look at the RPO code in the glove compartment to determine this, as there were a couple different options. The gear ratio for the front and rear axle will match.
open the drivers door , and on the end of the door will be information stickers the axle code will be shown on one of the stickers

That would depend on what the axle code is ( the axle code can be found on an information sticker on the end of the drivers door or perhaps the latching pillar )
On a 1992 Ford Ranger : It depends on which 5 speed manual transmission you have : The Mitsubishi transmission , code " D " ( takes 4.8 pints of 80-90W gear lube ) The Mazda transmission , code " M " ( takes 5.6 pints of MERCON automatic transmission fluid )
On the 1996 Ford Ranger axle code 92 is for , a conventional axle with a 3.08 ratio - I'm assuming it's the same on a 1993 Possible but... in most cases ford had a habit " if it still works why improve on it" ie: up to 2003 mustangs still have a cable clutch. I have a 93 ranger, 4.0L, 2wd, 5 speed, diff code 92 in the door, and it has 3.55 gears (tag on the rear diff told me), as for traction lock im not sure yet but i can try to find out.
